Breastfeeding Support For All

An annual campaign, World Breastfeeding Week aims to highlight the huge benefits that breastfeeding can bring to both the health and welfare of babies, celebrated globally from 1st - 7th August.

The event is organised to promote and support breastfeeding around the world and raise awareness about the importance of it and the many advantages it has. Breast milk gives your baby all the nutrients they need for the first six months of life. It helps to protect your baby from infections and other diseases, and as a mum, it also reduces your chances of getting some illnesses later in life. Breastfeeding also helps you and your baby to feel closer, both physically and emotionally. So whilst you’re feeding your baby, the bond between you grows stronger.


If you have any breastfeeding worries or concerns, the best thing to do is speak to your midwife or health visitor, or join a local breastfeeding support group.
