International Women's Day is held on the 8th March 2024. It is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. It is also a great time to ensure women everywhere are taking every possible step toward a longer, healthier life!
Women have unique health issues. And some of the health issues that affect both men and women can affect women differently. It is vital that women are educated and are aware of the signs and symptoms to look out for when protecting their health and wellbeing.
A list of just some of the many health conditions and concerns that women face:
Breast screening
Cervical screening
Bowel cancer screening
Gynaecological cancers - Ovarian, Vaginal, Vulva, Womb
Fertility and Pregnancy
Menopause
Sexual Health and Contraception
Mental Health
It is important that women speak to their GP if they are concerned about any health issues affecting them - preventative care and screenings are vital to early diagnosis and preventing long term conditions. Awareness surrounding family history and lifestyle are also key factors in protecting women's health, testing can be done early and small changes can make a big impact.
