The British Nutrition Foundation's Healthy Eating Week will be running from 10th - 14th June 2024. It’s all about celebrating healthy living and encouraging people to make positive changes to their lifestyles whilst promoting healthy eating, drinking and physical activity. The themes this year are:
Get at least 5 A DAY
Stay hydrated
Move more
Focus on fibre
Reduce food waste
There are many benefits to eating a healthy and balanced diet:
Improved overall health: help reduce the risk of chronic diseases and certain cancers
Increased energy: help you feel more energised, improving productivity and concentration
Better mood: improved mental health and mood
Improved digestion: help promote healthy digestion and reduce the risk of constipation and other digestive issues
Better weight management: help maintain a healthy weight, reducing the risk of obesity and related health problems
Eating healthy doesn't have to be complicated, make better choices by eating a variety of foods, choosing nutrient rich foods, drinking plenty of fluids and considering your portion sizes. Also make time for physical activity in your daily routine - exercise and physical activity help our bodies as well as our minds, so staying active not only improves your physical health, but your mental health too!
