Patients are now able to get treatment for seven common conditions directly from a local pharmacy, without needing a GP appointment, to give patients quick and accessible care and ease pressure on GP services.

You can visit a pharmacy to discuss these seven conditions:

• Sinusitis

• Sore throat

• Earache

• Infected insect bite

• Impetigo (a bacterial skin infection)

• Shingles

• Uncomplicated urinary tract infections in women.

The pharmacist will speak to you privately and will be able to recommend the best course of action issuing prescriptions for medication where necessary. Usual prescription charges will apply. Patients can still choose to visit their GP, this service provides an alternative method to getting medical advice from trained professionals.
