World Cancer Day will be observed on 4th February 2025 and is a global day to raise awareness, improve education, promote early detection and take action to reduce the devastating impact that cancer has on the world. It provides an opportunity for individuals, organisations, and governments worldwide to unite in the fight against cancer. It also serves as a platform for honouring the courage and resilience of cancer patients and survivors across the globe.

In just the UK alone it is estimated that more than 3 million people are living with cancer. On average someone is diagnosed with cancer at least every 90 seconds.
The four most common types of cancer are:
breast cancer
lung cancer
prostate cancer
bowel cancer
But in total there are more than 200 different types of cancer, and each is diagnosed and treated in a particular way.
Changes to your body's normal processes or unusual, unexplained symptoms can sometimes be an early sign of cancer. Whilst in many cases these symptoms will not be related to cancer, it is always important to get them checked out by your GP.
